  • Ministerial Purpose

    • To provide spiritual guidance and support to the local church and it’s various departments and programs. And, to disciple and equip believers to fulfill the great commission.

DUTIES:

To spiritually exhort and counsel church members and to address wayward and nonresident members ,encourage gifted men and women to commit themselves to Christian service, to offer guidance as they train, and to get them involved in service.(Recommend people for service to the nominating committee), home visitation, promote evangelism and missions in the church, make a special effort to get to know and encourage newcomers, non-members and those who are in need or hurting., plan bible study and discipleship courses., plan and carry out worship services., elect one member from among themselves to attend council meetings, elect one member from among themselves to serve as liason between church leadership and the youth groups. This couple will attend youth functions, events and meetings when possible.

SENIOR PASTOR:

  • Description

    • As a spiritual overseer, the pastor is the shepherd and guardian of the local fellowship of believers. The ministry is accomplished by studying and teaching, praying and preaching, and visiting and counselling on the basis of the Holy Scriptures. The pastor’s life should be characterized by a servant attitude, an exemplary lifestyle and a spirit of submission (Matt. 20:25-28; Acts 20:28-31; Heb. 13:7, 17; 1 Thess. 5:12, 13; 1 Peter 5:1-5).
    • The pastor is responsible to oversee the life and work of the congregation for its spiritual well being. Where the church has a plural ministry, the pastor and the ministerial shall work together.
    • The pastor or leading minister of the local church should be male. He may be chosen from the local church ministerial or membership, or may be called from another locality. Transfer of a pastor from one locality to another should be done in consultation with the Conference.
    • The local church shall make satisfactory arrangements with the incoming pastor. These include salary, housing and job description.

  • General Responsibilities

    • The Pastor has the responsibility to serve the congregation under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and to perform those ministries which help people to become Disciples of Christ and which build up the body of Christ.
    • It is the responsibility of the Pastor to provide leadership to the Youth Pastor as the need arrises.
    • To keep regular office hours at the church.
    • The Pastor is accountable to Church Council and shall submit a written report on a monthly basis outlining his activities and keep council informed of his short and long term initiatives and goals.

  • Specific Responsibilities

    • To teach and preach
    • To oversee the instruction of baptism candidates and prospective members
    • To preside over the ordinances, i.e. communion, baptism, etc.
    • To conduct weddings and funerals
    • To oversee the printing of the Sunday bulletin, censor the bulletin, inserts and the church bulletin Councils.
    • Schedule and prepare agendas for ministerial meetings.
    • Plan social events to promote unity among the ministerial team.
    • Plan Ministerial Retreats to facilitate spiritual growth and rejuvenation.
    • To serve as a resource person for the church workers and work in cooperation with the various church committees.
    • To represent the church at the local ministerial associations.

 

MINISTERIAL VICE-CHAIR:

  • Responsibilities

    • To work with the Senior Pastor to provide leadership to the ministerial team for a unified and balanced ministry.
    • Serve as a Ministerial Representative on Council
    • Work with the senior pastor to schedule and prepare agendas for ministerial meetings.
    • Work with the senior pastor to plan social events to promote unity among the ministerial team.
    • Work with the senior pastor in planning Ministerial Retreats to facilitate spiritual growth and rejuvenation.
  • Additional Information

    The ministerial shall elect this position from among themselves at the first meeting of the year for a 3 year term.

 

 

ASSOCIATE PASTOR:

  • General Responsibilities

    • The Associate Pastor has the responsibility to work in close co-operation with the Pastor in serving the congregation under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and perform those ministries which help people become disciples of Christ, and which build up the body of Christ.
    • To keep regular office hours at the church.
    • The Associate Pastor is accountable to the Church Council and shall submit a written report on a monthly basis outlining his activities and keep council informed of his short and long term initiatives and goals.
  • Specific Responsibilities

    • Provide overall spiritual leadership to the Youth of our congregation and to work at the evangelizing of the youth in the community.
    • Ensure supervision at all youth functions.
    • Provide leadership to the Youth.
    • Develop and provide training of youth sponsors/leaders in cooperation with the training coordinator.
    • Oversee the Young Adults ministry.
    • Do regular one-on-one visits (coffee) with youth in the church, build relationships with the youth
    • Work in close relationship with the Senior Pastor and Ministerial to ensure the youth program is meeting its intended need and is in-line with the overall direction of the church.

 

 

PASTORAL MINISTRIES:

  • Description

    • Preaching, Worship Leading, assisting or leading at Communion, Baptisms, Funerals, etc. (Under the advisement of the Pastor and Ministerial).
    • Visitation: priority given to the Youth and their parents.
    • Provide overall spiritual leadership and assistance in the Church program as required.
    • Assist in administrative duties.

 

 

MINISTERS:

  • Description

    • Ministers may be elected from the male members and ordained or commissioned by the church.
    • Ministers share in the work of the pastor and function as a team under his leadership.
    • Ministers Qualifications:
    • Must be a maturing and growing Christian, and member of this church.
    • Must be respected in the church and community.
    • Must be interested and willing to serve in this ministry.
  • Responsibilities

    • To preach & teach
    • To assist the pastor in spiritual direction of the pulpit ministry
    • Assist the pastor in planning and serving the ordinances of the church

 

 

DEACONS:

  • Responsibilities

    • To oversee the care giving ministry in the local church and community, in cooperation and communication with the pastor and ministerial (Acts 6:1-7; 1 Timothy 3:8-13).
    • Married couples or individuals may be called to serve in appropriate areas of ministry.
    • Specific duties may include the following:
    • Overseeing a program of visitation, hospitality and encouragement.
    • Promoting understanding and harmony within the church body and between the congregation and its leaders.
    • Watching for any needs and crises that may arise and responding with counsel and emotional support.
    • Supporting and assisting people who suffer loss or misfortune and administering local aid programs.
    • Assisting in the communion service.
    • To help or give direction to those in the Church who need financial advice.
  • Qualifications

    • Must be a maturing and growing Christian, and member of this church.
    • Must be respected in the church and community.
    • Must be interested and willing to serve in this ministry.
    • General Responsibilities:
    • To care for the members of the church.
    • To assist the pastor in the work of the church.
    • To identify and aid in the physical need of the church and the community.
    • Specific Responsibilities:
    • Greet people at the church entrance on a rotating basis.
    • Provide leadership and support to the care group leaders.
